THE PHOTOS SHOWN IN THIS PUBLICATION ARE NOT OF THE TRIBE, THEY ARE ONLY ILLUSTRATIVE

We cannot mention the name of the tribe, nor the exact location, because we respect their freedom, culture and ancestral knowledge.

BRIEF HISTORY.

In Brazil they carry out brigades of doctors and nurses who carry out the work of visiting indigenous communities to provide treatments and medicines for different diseases to our brothers.
We hear the story of one of the nurses who does this type of work.
He told us that being in a tribe, very distant and already contacted, the chiefs of the tribe told him stories that they could not go to a region of the river higher up because he mentioned that there was a tribe that did not want to be visited, previous years they had fights and that they lost their children and husbands, for this reason the tribe lost the battle and had to abandon their home and look for another place to settle.
the nurse didn’t really know if the tribe existed or not, but his job included visiting more tribes so he could bring medicine.
He embarked with 3 other nurses in search of the uncontacted tribe, after 9 days, they saw people around the shore pointing arrows and more sharp items, making voices and shouts, the tribe did not wear much clothing, their bodies painted only in some areas with dark red color.
They immediately felt fear and other canoes approached their small boat who took them by force, pushing them screaming and more. When they arrived at the tribe they saw that there were no objects or things that they normally see in other tribes, for example, buckets or containers of water among other things, at that moment they thought that the tribe was not contacted.
They took him to the main hut where the chief was, feathered and painted dark red and white on his body.
They communicated in a language they did not know, the nurses had learned from the other tribes, to kneel and with their heads to the ground, that gesture gave the message: respect and that they came in peace.
the chief of the tribe touched the head of one of the nurses and helped him to stand, while the others kept his head on the ground.
the boss’s hand touched the nurse’s lips, we knew that he was asking me to speak or try to communicate with them. He was very nervous and trembling seeing his deep eyes from the boss.
So the nurse asked his friend to do a demonstration.
Then they made a scenography, where the first nurse acted as a sick man, trembling and on the ground, and his partner took out a glass of water and medicine, gave his friend who was doing the scenography, and then incorporated the scenography as if he had healed I try to make the boss see that they cured diseases.
At that time the chief did not understand and they were kept tied up in a hut, while they were looking for their things from the nurses, they fed the captives fish, wild meat, insects and leaves for 3 days.
Then they were taken back to the main hut where they recreated their scenery again, at that moment one of the members of the tribe seems to have understood, and he told his boss, they brought an elderly patient, who had a fever, Apparently, falsiparo tapeworm is a very common disease in the Amazon known as malaria.
That is when the chief understood that they had come to his tribe to heal, from that moment the chief treated them in a more friendly way with his gesture.
Their stay was around 12 days in the tribe, the nurses said they had to return to bring more medicine, they made drawings and gestures to communicate with them.
Upon their return to their dependency, the nurses narrated their trip, there is a law in Brazil that prohibits the disclosure of isolated tribes, where it mentions that they should not disclose the exact location and not show photos of them, to preserve a tribe in their state more natural and pure.
For this reason the nurse, my friend, did not want to give me more details about the tribe, just a short story, and that they had bartered with some products, such as hape and other medicines, medicines for the Brazilian health department to investigate how they were these tribes heal.
They thought about returning to the tribe, but the state of Brazil has banned them due to the covid-19 issue.
It is thanks to him that sometimes we get some products from our brothers, sending medicine and clothes on their trip and helping in their work as a nurse for the tribes.

What is rappé snuff?

Hapé is a very sacred snuff, made by the indigenous tribes of the Amazon. Hapé, or rapé,’ is pronounced ‘haa-pay’ in English. It is used for deep connection to the spirits, animals and Mother Nature, it is very cleansing and powerfully healing for the body, mind, and soul. Hapé is made with small leaves NOT grown for commercialization or genetically hybridized with high amounts of nicotine, thus it has none of the negative properties that commercial cigarettes have. Instead, it is grown and made in deep reverence for the and for Mother Earth. is a very powerful plant, that has the power to heal, and when abused, it can kill and cause detrimental harm. In this way it is a plant that is very revered by the Native people, and is said to be a Grandfather medicine, full of ancient wisdom and the ability to carry our prayers to Creator.

This sacred medicine takes days to make and is a very labor intensive process made in a ceremonial way, out of various Amazonian healing medicinal plants, leaves, trees and seeds from native lands.

Using either your kuripe or the Tepi, load half into the pipe for the first nostril. If self applying, inhale, insert the long nostril of the pipe into your nose, and the smaller side in your mouth. Exhale and blow strongly. This is the hardest part because it requires centering yourself and giving yourself a strong, powerful application. In time, your ability to do this will grow and you’ll be able to use this as a tool to organize and center yourself whenever necessary. After you are applied, sit for 5-10 minutes in meditation.
